THE Dolgellau window dressing competitions that are held amongst shops and businesses in the town have become a regular event throughout the year.

With NFU Cymru office’s prominent position in the town the creative team at the office are regular participants in the competitions.

Obviously in December, the chosen theme to decorate an inviting window display was Christmas.

The office worked in partnership with all the primary school sites that are part of Ysgol Bro Idris, which include, Llanelltyd, Y Friog, Rhydymain, Dinas Mawddwy and Dolgellau, to get the children to colour in angels that have been displayed in the office window as part of a community art installation.

Mair Jones and Gemma Williams, the group secretaries at Dolgellau said that it would be a great opportunity to award the best angel, and such a responsibility fell on the shoulders of Emlyn Roberts, the county chairman.

The winner was seven-year-old Aaron Jones from Ysgol Bro Idris’ Dinas Mawddwy site.

Aaron will be able to take advantage of his prize for the coming year as he has secured a season ticket to the Children’s Farm Park at Llanfair near Harlech.

Mair Jones said: “It’s good to be a part of the pre-Christmas bustle in the town and it’s a reflection of the close relationship we have with Ysgol Bro Idris.”

Gemma Williams said: “We are very fortunate that our staff are keen to take part in this series of themed windows during the year, and it’s amazing how they can be so creative in such a small space of merely 14 square metres.”
