Aberystwyth-born striker Luke Jephcott has been named January’s Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month.

Jephcott, who still has family ties in Aberystwyth, was named Player of the Month for January following dazzling performances for Plymouth Argyle, netting five goals.

Luke Jephcott is an academy graduate of the Pilgrims and was recalled from his loan spell at Southern League Premier side Truro City at the start of the year and immediately thrust into the starting line-up for the Greens’ trip to Scunthorpe United on 4 January.

He marked his first competitive start under manager Ryan Lowe with a brace - his first goals in professional football.

Incredibly, he followed this a week later with another pair at Carlisle United, before bagging his first league goal at Home Park against Crawley Town - taking his tally for the month to five goals.

Luke’s goals contributed to a superb month of results for Lowe and his side - who have made a superb start to life in 2020.
