TO CELEBRATE St David’s Day, the women held the March meeting in the sports club to enjoy an evening of good food and entertainment. The delicious cawl with a roll and cheese followed by apple pie was supplied by Cegin Alban, and was courteously and professionally served by their staff. After the meal, the members were entertained by Elsa Davies playing a fiddle and Ceri Davies playing a harp. The haunting and beautiful songs were varied, from a song about unrequited love to one about porridge! Ceri also talked about his research into the indigenous music of Wales, going back as far as the 1600s. After the recital, Linda Badham gave the vote of thanks. She also thanked Doris for running the bar during the evening. Elsa and Ceri were then asked to judge the competition, a spring flower arrangement, and the winner was Carol Grinszpan, with Anne Jackson the runner-up. Anne Williams won the raffle. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 6 April in the British Legion Hall at 7pm.
