OUR president Eleanor Evans welcomed everyone to the May meeting on such a lovely evening. Last month’s minutes were read and signed, and matters arising, correspondence and the newsletter were gone through. Margaret Morgan and Jackie Swetman were congratulated on their entries in the Spring Rally, with Jackie winning the Esta Davies shield. It was reported that the members had a lovely day in Erddig despite the snow! The tea hostesses for the evening were Anne Jackson, Anne Evans and Iris Jones. Jackie Swetman won the raffle. Our speaker for the evening was Paul How, who drove to the meeting in his stunning Rolls Royce wedding car. Paul regaled us with some wedding stories, including one where he only just managed to beat the snow by 10 minutes to get the bride to the church on time. Paul’s car, named Claire, is now over 80-years-old, she still has her Spirit of Ecstasy hood mascot and has never let him down. It was a delightful talk and Brenda Pritchard gave a vote of thanks. Paul was asked to judge the competition of a small wedding memento and the winner was Anne Evans, with Jacqui Thomas runner up. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, 1 June at 7pm in the British Legion Hall.
