PRESIDENT Eleanor Evans welcomed everyone to the June meeting on a lovely sunny evening. The minutes of the May meeting were read and signed and all matters arising, correspondence and the newsletter were gone through. The concert held on 25 May at Aberaeron Memorial Hall with the Ceredigion WI Choir and the Melbourne Welsh Male Voice Choir was a fantastic evening, and Jacqui Thomas was thanked for her hard work in making the evening a success. Karen Wright was our delegate at the Spring Council in Felinfach on 10 May and she gave a short report on the proceedings. Suggestions were requested for an evening walk in August; one suggestion was a walk in a private garden that is occasionally open to the public, and another was a walk combined with a quiz in Aberaeron followed by a meal somewhere. Further discussions will take place. The entertainment for the evening was provided by Julie Carter from Expressions and she gave a flower arranging demonstration. Julie creates mostly wedding flowers and also holds workshops. She incorporates a lot of home grown flowers, herbs and foliage to ensure her work is as fresh as possible. She made three wonderful displays in a very short time using pastel coloured flowers including roses, sweet william, pinks and lupins, creating a bouquet of flowers in a basket, a beautiful posy and a small garden display. Julie offered these as raffle prizes and the three lucky winners were Eleanor Evans, Chris Williams and Marion Bowen. Sylvia Williams gave the vote of thanks. Julie then judged our competition of a floral jug, with Anne Jackson coming in first place, Liz Owen in second place and Margaret Morgan in third place.Mary Jones won the raffle and the tea hostesses were Karolyn Harries, Judy Southgate and Chris Williams. The next meeting is on Wednesday, 6 July at 7pm at the British Legion Hall.
