Aberaeron's breakwater will be closed from Monday as contractors carry out snagging work on the multi-million pound project.
A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Councl said: "BAM Nuttall will be returning to Aberaeron from 2–13 November to carry out planned final defect rectification work as part of the Aberaeron Coastal Defence Scheme.
"The works will include patch repairs to concrete on the breakwater and to grouted joints on the South Pier. On South Beach, larger rocks that have become exposed on the beach will be removed, while minor repairs, cleaning and adjustments to gates will also take place around Pwll Cam and Quay Parade.
"The breakwater will be closed to the public while these works are carried out.
"We thank residents and visitors for their patience and understanding."
Reacting to the closure, local councillor Elizabeth Evans, said: "Bam will be here for a couple of weeks undertaking end of contract snagging.
What that means is they will be looking at seals on the gates, they'll be looking at the glass protections on the walls, any concrete.
"Separately to that we have had Storm Austen. Wow was that a storm. The gates protected the town.
"The beach though has been really undercut.
"Ceredigion officers are aware of it. There's topographical studies going on at the moment to work out the levels. Not just on south beach but north beach.
"The breakwater will be closed for a couple of weeks. It will be open just in time for the 10k race.
"If you see BAM on the beach, they will be removing rocks that have been maybe washed up. Things that are longer than 500mm in length.
"I've got my eye on south beach. We need to build it back up.
"I've also asked for an inspection of the north beach sea defences, particularly by the bund following Storm Austen."
