Aberdyfi’s Neuadd Dyfi could get an improved floor, new seating and a better entrance if a funding application and fundraising event are successful.

The hall committee has applied for funding to upgrade the venue, and this Halloween, an event has been organised featuring the Boms and other musicians to raise more money for the hall plans.

“It has been scheduled as a fundraiser for the hall,” said venue spokesperson Desmond George.

“What for depends on the outcome of our Community Facilities grant application.

“As an ongoing development of the hall we are hoping to install a retractable seating system.

“The grant application was submitted last November. We got through to round two in the spring.

“We are told that it should have gone to panel last week and we should hear in the next two weeks or so. Hopefully before the 31 October.

“We have applied for £300k If successful this, with funds we have, should cover the basic costs of flattening the floor and installing the retractable seating system.

“We are hoping to also build a new entrance area and if successful with the grant the Halloween event would act as the launch of fundraising for that part of the project.

“If not successful the event would be a stand alone party with funds going to general maintenance.

“More details about the hall committee’s plans can be found at https://neuadddyfi.org/documents/”

Commenting more about the Halloween event, Desmond added: “On 31 October we will host the great Halloween Fundraising Ball.

“The Boms are a wonderful local band fronted by Adrian Bennet.”

The group come from nearby Tywyn and are delighted by the response to the fundraiser so far, with tickets selling fast.
