Aberystwyth Lifeboat has issued a warning urging people to take care if on the water or around the coast after the Met Office officially named this weekend’s expected storm, Storm Ciara.
"Stay away from exposed cliffs and areas with big waves," the Bad Achub Aberystwyth Lifeboat Facebook page posted.
"If you see anyone in trouble call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind for the whole of UK, which is in force from 6pm on Saturday and all day Sunday.
The system currently developing in the North Atlantic will bring strong winds and heavy rain across the whole of the UK, the Met Office said.
Wind gusts will reach 50 to 60mph across many inland areas and the strongest gusts in exposed locations, such as the coastline, could reach 80mph.
Forecasters are warning the severe weather will cause delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.
The coast of Wales will be “affected by spray and/or large waves”, according to the yellow warning, and there is a chance that some roads and bridges could close.
The Met Office warning also states: “There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage, and of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.”
