What’s wrong with Aberystwyth? Why are they so set on blocking any changes?

Surely the Aldi store would bring healthy competition and jobs to the area. As for flooding, this was not put forward as a problem when Tesco and Marks & Spencer were given planning permission. Aldi would be a welcome addition to the area.
