A club in Tremadog got into the spirit of Christmas, hosting a dinner for over 50 people to enjoy on the big day.
Tremadog Social Dining Club hosted the Christmas dinner thanks to volunteers and food donations. The food was given by Harlech Food Services, Rawson’s Digital and Newells in Porthmadog and cooked by a chef from the Sgwâr in Tremadog.
A spokesperson for the club said: “A community Christmas with everyone laughing, chatting and enjoying each other’s company. A range of ages were there, from a baby to a 90 year old. A true community spirit and Ysgol y Gorlan’s school choir brought the icing to the cake by singing Christmas carols, and everyone joining in.”
Tremadog 200 Community group set up the Social Dining Club in association with the Royal Voluntary Service and Asda Foundation in June, since then the number of participants has continued to rise. They added: “It’s a chance for all ages to meet monthly for homemade lunch and a good old natter. The main aim is to reduce loneliness and bring the community together.”
Jess Williams is a volunteer at the club and she spoke of the impact the club has on the local community. She said: “It warms our hearts every month seeing the success of the club. It’s brilliant to see the young and old together, and bringing a social event to keep the community alive. We would like to thank all who donate food, and who volunteer and a big thank you to the diners who give us so much fun each month.”
The next club meeting is on 22 January, 12pm - 2pm in the Institute Tremadog.
