Alysha Scarrott may be only 10 but she has run a mile a day for 65 days and raised a fantastic £8,500 for Hywel Dda NHS staff.

Alysha lives with her parents James and Victoria, five-year-old brother James and sister Sienna, 3, at Clarach Bay Holiday Village, which the family run.

Back in April, she pledged to run a mile a day during lockdown and has kept it up for over two months, finishing the challenge last Saturday.

Originally she set herself a target of £1,000, then £2,000 – but Alysha has been such an inspiration that the money has just kept pouring in.

Alysha said: “I wanted to do my best every single day, just like all the doctors, nurses, care workers and all other NHS workers do.

“Thank you to everyone who donated and sent cards and messages of support, and also those who joined in virtually with the fancy dress and Whacky Wednesday.”

Mum Victoria said the family were “extremely proud” of Alysha and bowled over by the support of family, friends and the whole community, plus Comins Coch School.

“This made it a lot easier for Alysha to carry on running, through the heatwave, the rain and the very windy days. At the end of the day it was all about thanking the local NHS for what they are doing.”
