LOCAL AM, Dafydd Elis-Thomas is hopeful the new roundabout at a Dolgellau accident blackspot will “help save lives”.
The Dwyfor and Meirionnydd’s Assembly Member has expressed how pleased he is with the new traffic calming measure, on the same site where two people lost their lives in recent years.
The roundabout on the A470/A494 Bala road was completed last month after a hard fought campaign featuring local protestors, a 3,000 strong petition and the backing of the assembly member.
Lord Elis-Thomas also mentioned, that plans for the other proposed roundabout in Dolgellau, on the A470/A494 Tywyn Road, are moving closure to completion.
The controversial junctions have been subject to temporary traffic lights for nearly two years after a series of horror crashes and collisions took place on the short stretch of road.
Lord Elis-Thomas said: “They have finished this roundabout in good time and to a high standard, I’ve no doubt it’ll improve safety and hopefully make drivers more responsible on the A470."
