I am writing to thank you for your coverage of the recent decision by Morrisons, Aberystwyth to restrict the collection of funds by the RSPCA and Cats Protection. As a former volunteer for Aberystwyth Cats Protection I can assure Morrisons that the work of this wonderful branch could not be more local. This branch and that of the RSPCA are run by a small, incredibly dedicated team of volunteers who fit their role around jobs, families and their own pets. It is local people who have stood out in the rain, thunder and lightning to help distressed animals. It is local people who have had countless sleepless nights nursing the sick and orphaned. And it is local people who have done everything within their power to help members of the public, whatever the situation. I think the public would be surprised just how much small branches of animal charities rely on local funding and I am incredibly disappointed that Morrisons have made such a decision, which could seriously impede the work carried out by truly wonderful people.
