Madam,

I have just, belatedly, read the letter from an Alun Walker concerning his view on the condition of the Llanon carnival field.

I find it somewhat annoying that a visitor should make such ill-conceived, derogatory remarks after the efforts made by the carnival organisers over many months, remarks that could have a negative impact on next year’s carnival.

Both my wife and I spent a large part of the day helping on stalls and at no time did we consider that the field was full of sheep droppings.

Equally, we spoke to many visitors and not one comment was made on the state of the field. Rather, they were all full of praise for the wonderful day they were having.

If Mr Williams wants a more sanitised form of entertainment I would like to suggest he visits Oakwood or Alton Towers in future.
