THE founder of Festival No 6 has apologised after hundreds of people became trapped in mud after the park and ride site was flooded.

Festival goers using the park and ride site, near Porthmadog Football Club, were left stranded for up to three days after the site was flooded following torrential weather earlier this month.

Gareth Cooper, founder of Festival No 6, said there was no way of knowing the site would have flooded and that he was ‘truly sorry’ for what happened.

The organisers of the festival have been heavily criticised since the park and ride flood fiasco by those who attended the music event and local councillors.

The music event’s insurers are now working with those who were affected to deal with their claims.

Mr Cooper said: “The consequent ordeal faced by people at the park and ride was awful and for that we are truly sorry.

“However, despite the rumours and unfounded accusations flying around, we had no way of knowing this would happen and had no warning to that effect until the flood was literally in progress.

“Why would we knowingly risk people’s property and our reputation? It simply makes no sense.

“We are also sorry if some people feel our lack of personal contact with them over the last week has been misconstrued as uncaring. I can assure you this is absolutely not the case.

"Large scale claims like this can take a while to resolve, we have worked around the clock to push this through at no small cost to ourselves and hopefully we have reached a conclusion in record time that will satisfy everyone affected.”
