The Aberystwyth - Esquel Partnership Association (AEPPA/CPPAE for short) celebrated the 10th anniversary of the signing of their twinning charter with an asado (an Argentine barbecue) in the Penparcau Hwb on Friday, 12 July.
Well over 50 people attended the event and were able to enjoy an evening with an Argentine flavour. The meat - delicious sausages and various joints of lamb - was supplied and expertly cooked by Rob Rattray on a traditional wood fire, and the wine came from Patagonia.
In the absence of the chair, Prof Stephen Tooth who was away in Botswana for work, Sue Jones-Davies, the vice-chair, welcomed everyone and gave a brief history of the association, explaining the significance of the event.
She had been a signatory of the Charter in Esquel in May 2009 together with Aled Rees, the first chair of the association.
Everyone was very pleased to see Aled present at the asado, together with his Argentine wife and their young family.
Later on Jenni Barbieri from Sudestada Tango (Llandrindod Wells) lead a workshop on the Argentine tango teaching some basic steps, something greatly enjoyed by all who took part. Partnered by Marco Odello, himself an expert dancer, she then gave a demonstration of three dances, a tango, a milonga and a vals.
