An exhibition of work completed as part of a project created by an Aberystwyth artist who was killed earlier this year has gone on display.

Anna Evans helped organise the Cartref project, which brought elderly residents of Bryntirion residential home and local school children together to create art.

Anna was killed in August when a car was driven into her tent while camping near Caernarfon.

The Cartref project was her last artistic endeavour and has gone on display in the Great Hall Foyer at Aberystwyth Arts Centre.

Anna was recruited in October 2018 as project co-ordinator by Aberystwyth Arts Centre. Alongside eight Aberystwyth University students and other professional artists, she was responsible for facilitating workshops in the Tregaron community.

The three main groups working on the Cartref project were Bryntirion Residential Centre, Tregaron Family Centre and Ysgol Pontrhydfendigaid.

From February to July this year, the groups attended a series of workshops on ‘home’ and what it means.

At the exhibition launch on Wednesday, 16 October, Amanda Trubshaw, creative learning manager at the arts centre, said: “We wanted this to be a celebratory event – Anna Evans was a multi-talented, extraordinary person; she really had a talent for facilitating meaningful community work. She knew how to get the best out of people.

“This was an inter-generational project that happened in a very natural way and I’m grateful to the three groups for their enthusiasm and dedication to this project.”
