AT THE end of January, Jane Dodds, Welsh Assembly candidate for the Montgomeryshire Liberal Democrats will be travelling to the refugee camp in Calais to volunteer within the camp.

Ms Dodds is specifically looking for donations of warm or new sleeping bags to deliver to the refugees as weather conditions are deteriorating.

Ms Dodds said: “I will be staying in a local youth hostel and helping with basic chores in the camp.

“I plan to take my little car and would like to fill it up with new or good quality sleeping bags for the refugees. I would be grateful if anyone could donate one or more sleeping bags, of any colour, or could donate money to buy a new one and I will deliver it.

“Refugees in Calais feel isolated and are stick land of limbo, and conditions there are deteriorating as winter sets in. Let’s show them that the people of Montgomeryshire are compassionate, caring and generous once again.”
