Madam,

How are most of us supposed to feel reading of wondrous salaries paid to people in the BBC who do not really add to our lives in meaningful ways?

The only fly in the ointment (for them) is the fact of the rest of us, being the public and paying licence fees providing the cash, or most of it, are now in the know.

Meanwhile austerity is only for some, and those who should have salaries worthy of the name – such as nurses, doctors, carers, our Forces, police, border enforcement staff, life-boat crews and many more – are not considered.

Councils are strapped for cash and are likely to be in future years. Older people are selling their homes to pay for care and overall we know only of losses and lowered standards.

I think deeply about our youngsters and what is ahead.

Yours etc, Jill Baxter, Abergynolwyn.
