Madam,

Recent editions of the Cambrian News have contained articles about the need to kill badgers in Wales as a response to the Bovine TB problem.

This seems to me to be a knee-jerk reaction to what obviously is a devastating problem for farmers. However, nobody seems to be looking at scientific facts and is instead looking for a scapegoat ,which in this case is the badger.

We should be proud that our Welsh government has chosen to vaccinate badgers instead of killing them and I hope they do not bow to pressure from the farmers unions to change to a cull.

Scientific reports show that bTB is spread mainly from cattle to cattle, so we should be looking at the movements of cattle rather than focussing all our energies on the badgers. In the end a badger cull will not help farmers and it will be a huge waste of public money.

On a moral note, we do not have the right to kill our wildlife. We should be finding ways of living peacefully alongside them.

Yours etc
