A BALA woman will feature in a television series following a team of five elite sportswomen as they bid to win one of the world’s toughest endurance races.

Pum Merch, Tri Chopa, Un Cwch (Five Women, Three Peaks and One Boat) will follow Team Aparito Digital Health, as they compete in this year’s Three Peaks Yacht Race. It’s a tough challenge where teams sail the 389-mile journey from Barmouth to Fort William in Scotland, with two members of each team running to the summit of the highest peaks of Wales, England and Scotland.

Leading Team Aparito Digital is adventurer Dr Elin Haf Davies, of Parc, near Bala, who first made headlines nine years ago by becoming the first Welsh woman to row across the Atlantic Ocean.

Elin is joined by fellow sailors Pip Hare and Nikki Curwen, and ultra-marathon runners Jo Jackson and Lowri Morgan.

Competing against crews from across the world, the team were not only battling against the notoriously rough west coast of Britain but also against people’s pre-race expectations.

The series will feature on S4C, the first episode can be seen tonight (Friday, 15 July) at 10.30pm.
