A LLYN fooball team is kicking off its 30th anniversary party a season early.
CPD Llanystumdwy FC will be celebrating three decades of the senior side playing in the Gwynedd League in 2019.
In its penultimate season before that milestone celebration, the club has taken time to reflect over the good work the club has achieved and the organisation’s relationship with the village.
The club, which also fields an under 16s, 14s and 12s side in the Llyn and Eifionydd junior league, is starting the celebrations this weekend with its popular annual Banger Racing event in Criccieth on Sunday.
Throughout the summer, four volunteers from the club have continued to run the weekly car boot from March to September in Porthmadog, which over the last six years has raised a staggering £66,500 for Wales Air Ambulance, Ty Gobaith and Clwb Chwaraeon Madog.
Another volunteer, Nel Jones, manages a charity shop in Criccieth, with all the proceeds of the shop going towards running the club.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the club is looking to improve the playing and training facilities in Llanystumdwy, as well as creating a new full-size football pitch for the Eifionydd area – the results of years of planning and fund-raising by associated members of the club.
