People in Ceredigion should enjoy more of the ‘fantastic’ seafood produce caught on our own doorstep.

That was the message from Ceredigion County Council leader Ellen ap Gwynne at a seafood banquet cooked and prepared by the catering students of Cardigan’s Coleg Ceredigion on Friday.

“It’s fantastic to see the produce we have here and it’s produce that we should make the most of,” she said. “It is time that the seafood of Cardigan Bay was more widely appreciated – the produce is there but our fishermen need more support.”

Guests who included Lord Morris of Aberavon and Lord Lieutenant of Dyfed Sara Edwards tucked into a four-course meal of mackerel pate, crab bisque, baked cod and lobster washed down with wine from Aberaeron’s award-winning Gwinllan Llaethlliw Vineyard and mead from Aberystwyth’s Shire Meadery.
