THE PRESIDENT, Jacqui, welcomed members to the meeting, including the newest member Anne Stansfield; Gwen Pettifor and Jill Houliston, members of Meirionydd executive; and Olwen Telfer, the mother of the guest speaker. Meirion was sung unaccompanied in Welsh. Apologies were noted and best wishes were sent to Monica Buggy and Anwen McFarlane who are currently in hospital. Jacqui congratulated Val Vine on her coming birthday and reminded members to check that their birthdays were noted in the birthday book. There were congratulations to Karen, whose daughter had recently given birth, and Pam Payton, who had become a greatgrandmother. Two 2015 scrapbooks, Cynwyd and Barmouth, were picked to go forward for judging in Cardiff, and Jacqui praised all the hard work that had gone into the group’s scrapbook.Gwen and Jill are looking for homemade items to be sold at The Royal Welsh Show in July, also stewards to work two-hour shifts throughout the four days of the show.The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed, and among the matters arising were the ‘Te Cymraeg’ on 26 February and Scrabble at Felin Ganol on 7 March at 2pm. The county letter was read and relevant dates and activities noted. Harlech WI have invited members to their next meeting on 9 March at 7pm.The guest speaker was Peter Telfer who was brought up in Dyffryn Ardydwy and attended Ysgol Ardydwy in Harlech. His subject was ‘Pictures from previous lives’ and he talked about his photography. The pictures shown had recently been in two exhibitions in Swansea and Barmouth, and were mostly black and white studies of artists who worked in different mediums and where taken between the 1980s and 2000s. The photographs were stunning and atmos-pheric and were passed around the room for closer inspection. The vote of thanks was given by Val Vine.The monthly competition for a picture of Barmouth was won by Mari O’Rourke with Rose Morris and Janet Davies second and third respectively. The tea hostesses, Pam, Rose Martin and Joan Probert, were warmly thanked by Jacqui. The raffle was won by Linda Hills and the plant by Carol Clay. The next meeting is on Wednesday, 23 March, on the subject of Snowdonia National Park.

Late Easter Craft and Art Disco

THE BUFFS Club will be hosting a Late Easter Craft and Art Disco on 2 April from noon until 2pm, organised by Barmouth Childcare Partner-ship. The event is a fund-raiser and will include a craft session, stalls and a disco. Everyone will be welcome.Easter FairRETURNING for 2016, Friends of Ysgol y Traeth will host the annual Easter Fair.Stalls will include a tombola, lucky dip, hook-a-duck, hoopla, Dutch raffle, refreshments and, of course, the Easter egg hunt. There might even be a visit from the Easter Bunny. Tables are available for any crafters or businesses who wish to go along.If you are interested in a table, get in touch with Katie Price (Crystal House) who will provide you with all the information. Friends of Ysgol y Traeth will also be supporting Year 6 with their fund-raising for the Cardiff trip and other community charities, including the RNLI and Barmouth Guiding.

Rotary Bond Night

ON FRIDAY, 11 March, the Mawddach Rotary will be holding a fund-raising film night, showing Spectre, with optional fish and chips pre-film. Food is served at 6.30pm and the film starts at 7.30pm.
