OUR president Jacqui welcomed the members to the meeting. Meirion was sung unaccompanied and apologies noted. Three members will celebrate their birthdays before our next meeting.Rose Morris was runner up in the darts final on 4 April. Our 2015 scrapbook won 1st prize in the over 30 members category and Ann Williams, Mari O’Rourke and Rose Morris went to the All Wales AGM at Llandrindnod Wells to receive the certificate, which was then displayed at the Spring Council in Rhyd-y-main on 26 April.

On 9 May, Sheila Walker will be presented with a long service medal from the RNLI. Four members will be attending a garden party at Buckingham Palace.Minutes of the March meeting were read and signed. Six members attended the Spring council and the report was read out by Janet Davies. Eight members will be going to the quiz night at Dolgellau on 29 April .Decisions on the two resolutions will be taken at the May meeting. The spring ramble will be at Coed Artro on 20 May. The county letter was read and relevant dates noted.Our guests were ‘Singin Wimmin’ led by Julie Gunn. Twenty Wimmin sang a number of traditional songs in the languages of the countries where they had come from, including, Zulu, Maori, Italian/Welsh and English. No music is used in the learning of the songs, just a note from a recorder and Julie uses her hands to conduct the Wimmin. It was very entertaining and Julie encouraged the members to participate in one the songs. Their last song was I Like to Sing.They were warmly thanked by Janet Dav-ies.Jacqui thanked the hostesses, Ann, Malan and Carol for the refreshments. Mari O’Rourke won the raffle and Vicky Pell the plant. The monthly competition, a decorated bonnet was won by Pam Payton, 2nd Mari O’Rourke, 3rd Janet Davies. The next meeting will be on 25 May.

Barmouth Services Project update

AN open public meeting will be held at the Dragon Theatre on the 12 May from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.The Barmouth Services Project is a group composed of representatives from Gwynedd County Council , Barmouth Town Council, B Vag group , Barmouth in Bloom, Yacht Club, and other local group members . It was set up some months ago to look at ways to con-tinue certain services which are in danger of being cut or reduced as a result of financial cuts to GCC budget. This will be the second drop in public meeting to keep the towns people informed and invite suggestions and feedback. Please drop in and stay informed and show your interest, the session will be in Parlwr Mawr, Dragon Theatre with refreshments available.

Historical walk

A HISTORICAL walk is planned for Sunday, 8 May.Starting at the Lifeboat Station, this will be an easy guided two-hour walk down to the harbour before climbing up through old Barmouth and over Dinas Oleu to St John’s Church, revealing some of the important landmarks and pointing out the historical wealth that Barmouth has to offer. If you would like to join the walkers, you can meet at 10.30am at the Lifeboathouse on the Promenade to register. The walk will start at 11am. It will then return to the Boathouse at about 1pm for a warming bowl of soup.Suitable clothing and footwear is essential. All proceeds to Barmouth RNLI.
