Famous children’s characters have been spotted in Penparcau, visiting families and raising spirits during the coronavirus pandemic.

Yvonne Michelle Evans has spent one hour every other day dressed up as a cartoon character while visiting children in Penparcau.

So far Yvonne has dressed up as Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and a Minion.

Louise Harvey, a Penparcau resident who has met the characters, set up a GoFundMe page on 14 April, to raise money for more costumes.

Yvonne said: “I started doing it down to a friend, who owns SCS mascots. She had asked if I’d mind spending an hour every other day dressing up to cheer kids and adults up.

“The response from the community has been great. It’s nice to cheer kids and adults up in these tough times.

“A friend set up a GoFundMe page so we could have a different costume as the kids have seen Minnie, Donald and a Minion.

“It’s just nice to see the kids happy.”

Louise said: “I set up the GoFundMe page after my two-year-old saw her dressed as Minnie Mouse and it really made her happy.

“I’m in a high-risk category so we’ve both been stuck in the house over a month now, and Yvonne has really cheered her up.

“She walks around Penparcau in her costumes waving to all the kids from their windows and front gardens and they all adore seeing her.

“I wanted to raise some money so she could buy additional costumes and we brought her a dinosaur one. We are hoping to get her a couple more to really brighten up the kids’ days.”
