A NINE-YEAR-OLD Llanrhystud girl is to host a Hallowe’en party to raise money for Syrian children after her first event raised £650 last year.

It was reported in the Cambrian News last October that Bethan Rosser had been in contact with UNICEF to seek advice on how best to help children in war-torn Syria, after feeling “helpless” at what she was seeing on the news.

Now, Bethan, who exceeded last year’s target of £500 after holding a Hallowe’en party in Llanrhystud Village Hall, will help host another party on Friday, 28 October, in the hope of raising more money for the Syrian children.

“Following the success of last year’s Hallowe’en party fundraiser for the Children of Syria and the ongoing conflict in Syria, I have decided to organise a Hallowe’en party again this year with all proceeds going to UNICEF,” said Bethan, who is in Year 5 at Ysgol Gymraeg.

“Last year, I managed to raise a fantastic £650 which, through UNICEF, went to help protect children from preventable diseases, provide warm blankets and shelter for the winter, enable more children to have access to education and keep children safe from violence and abuse.”
