Friends and family of a well-known Aberystwyth man who died in January will continue fundraising in his memory with a charity cycle ride this weekend.

Terry Davies, a former Aberystwyth Town FC player and reserves assistant manager, and a league winner in 2017 with Bont FC, was found dead at the St David’s Park Hotel in Ewloe, Flintshire, on Tuesday, 30 January.

Friends and family of Terry, a father-of-five and a former pupil at Ysgol Penweddig, have been fundraising for Mind, the mental health charity, in his memory since his death.

Fundraising days have already raised thousands for the charity, with the next event scheduled for Sunday, 28 October.

Two charity bike rides – a full 100-mile route from Aberystwyth to Barmouth and back, and a shorter 46-mile route – will start at 8am from Plascrug Leisure Centre.

One of the organisers, Nia Peris, said Terry was a keen member of Ystwyth Cycling Club who was “very proud” to have taken on and completed the gruelling 100-mile ride in recent years.

“We hope the event will bring Aberystwyth’s cycling and triathlon community together in memory of Terry to raise money for mental health charity Mind, as chosen by Terry’s family,” Nia said.

“It would be great to raise as much money as we can in memory of Terry.”
