THE Bishop of Bangor along with a group of volunteers will be delivering aid to the refugee camps around Calais and Dunkirk in France this weekend.

The Right Reverend Andy John will be travelling as part of a group of people, mainly based in north Wales, who follow different faiths and none.

The group is being led by Sara Roberts, of Criccieth, and who is a Lay Reader from the Bro Moelwyn Ministry Area, who is part of Holy Trinity Church in Penrhyndeudraeth.

Sara, who is soon to begin training for ordination, was one of the instigators of the Pobl i Bobl (North Wales Refugee Support) facebook page, when the extent of the refugee problem around Calais became obvious.

Looking forward to the trip, Bishop Andy said: “I am honoured to be part of a group of Christian, Muslim and Buddhist people, as well as those of no faith, from north Wales, who will be delivering aid, and expressing our love for our sisters and brothers.

“It pains me to see the pictures of people who feel that they have no choice but to leave their homelands in order to seek safety, meaning and hope in another country.

“It will be humbling to worship with the Christians of these camps on Sunday. Whatever their faith, these people are all children of God, made in his image, just as I am. I want to do whatever I can to support them.”
