Plaid Cymru’s local political representatives certainly have a talent for biting the hand that feeds them - from demanding independence from the nation that helps fund us, to complaining about visitors who provide our county with much of its income.
If, instead, they used their energies to ensure that Gwynedd was ready to welcome more tourists, many of the problems they perceive would go away. For it is Plaid-controlled Gwynedd Council’s responsibility to patrol beaches, control traffic flow and parking, provide facilities, and indeed, encourage tourism.
If other counties in Wales can provide safe bathing areas and deal with holidaymakers, why not here? It is up to Gwynedd’s councillors and other representatives to ensure the smooth running of our own area. Mark Drakeford and his team have enough to do trying to deal with coronavirus without sorting out local problems which are the responsibility of local councils.
