THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts an exhibition of the local Camera Club members and admission is free during the library’s opening hours. Bins WITH Gwynedd Council stating that they no longer will be responsible for filling the salt bins in the area the town council is to write to the Maentwrog, Penrhyndeudraeth and Trawsfynydd community councils to ask them if they wish to work on the tender for this work which is of important need for the community in the winter months.

Better news for the Blaenau side as they still lead the North Wales League A after a 9-3 home win over Conwy thanks to wins from Martin, Dafydd, Barry John and Jason Hughes and Ken, Dylan and Iwan V Jones. This Saturday they are away at St Asaph.

Award

MYRA Davies of Newborough Street has been awarded a Highly Commended Pass in the National Association of Teachers of Dancing, being awarded a Gold Cross in Ballroom Dancing.

Objection

THE town council has objected to a re-submission of the previously refused planning application for the change of use of ground floor shop to a self contained flat and alterations to the front of 32 Church Street on the grounds that Gwynedd Council should pursue a policy of rejecting requests for change of use of a shop to a house or flat on the high street.If this is not a policy, then it should be to ensure the future of our towns, said the council.

A CITIZENS Advice Bureau representative will be at the library be-tween 10am and 1pm on Mondays ready to give relevant advice where needed and no appointments are needed to attend.

Choirs

ON Sunday afternoon, the Moelwyn Choir conducted by Sylvia Ann Jones and accompanist Wenna Francis Jones entertained the audience at the Vintage Tractor Rally that came to the town’s Diffwys Square. Sunday evening it was the turn of the town’s Mixed Choir conducted by Wenna Francis Jones and accompanists Gwynn Vaughan Jones and Alwena Morgan who were in concert at Bowydd Chapel with soloists Megan Lloyd Gray and Tomos Heddwyn Griffiths. The compere was Delyth Gray and the proceeds of the evening went to the North Wales Air Ambulance and Gwilym Price thanked all who took part.The Brythoniaid Choir has announced the winners of their recent raffle as £100 – Cath Williams, Porthmadog, £50 – Mr Humphreys, Penrhyn; £20 – Colin Widdicombe and the other various prize winners were Kevin Mitchelmore, Kath Joyce, Huw Alan, Howell Eben-ezer, Marina B Jones, JJ and Cian Williams and Adrea.Responder SION Jarman of Manod who is employed at the Hafan y Môr Holiday Park, Pwllheli is among the new Ambulance Service Community first responders who cover the Llyn area. For several seasons Sion has held the post of first aid for the Blaenau Amateurs FC.

Rally

ON Sunday there was great interest in the town as a total of just over 200 tractors arrived at Diffwys Square as part of the Vintage Tractor Rally having set off from Dolgellau. The Blaenau Bendigedig Group had arranged a selection of stalls, foot plate rides on Ffestiniog Railway, plus the Historical Society exhibition was open and the Moelwyn Choir entertained those present before they set off on their return journey to Dolgellau.

Angling

THE Cambrian Angling Association’s next two competitions will be held at Morwynion Lake, the first this Sunday for the junior members who will be competing for the Sgotwrs nid Llosgwr Cup and that will take place between 10am and 4pm for the under 10s and the 11-16 year olds. Then on the Friday evening of next week, the popular night fishing competition will be held between 8pm and midnight, the juniors biding for the Roy Bell-ringer Cup and the seniors for the J O Davies Salver. The fly fishermen’s aim will be the R T Jones Memorial Cup.
