In these unprecedented times it is necessary for Blood Bikes – Aberystwyth group to suspend our talks and activities in fundraising events. We thank you for your interest and when we are able to will reschedule.

Government predictions are that cases of Covid-19 will increase rapidly over the coming weeks and whilst for many this will not be serious, for the most vulnerable it could be fatal.

Blood Bikes will play its part in delaying the spread of this virus in line with prevailing advice. The trustees have agreed that our focus will be on maintaining the front line service we provide to our NHS and to limit other activities that we believe present a higher risk of spreading the virus.

It is possible, as the epidemic progresses, that demand for our services may increase or even move into new areas and this will be our priority focus. The situation will be kept under review as the NHS still need us.

Although the government has given additional funding to the hospitals to fight this disease Blood Bikes Wales is 100 per cent volunteers and at no cost to the NHS thus saving substantial sums for front line services.

We have seen so many acts of kindness and generosity from our supporters over the past months, thus ensuring that our bikes are kept on the road. Only this past weekend we have delivered personal protective equipment from one hospital to another and an increase in the number of samples being transported to specialist laboratories throughout Wales.

Thank you to all our supporters for your understanding and continued support.
