A PATIENT who has battled cancer three times in 20 years has raised hundreds of pounds for cancer charities.
Malci Jones, who is in his 60s, shaved off his hair and eye brows to raise over £600 for Macmillan and Marie Curie cancer charities.
The event took place towards the end of March in The Mitre, Pwllheli with Malci surrounded by a crowd of family, friends, and well-wishers.
Malci explained to the Cambrian News why he decided to make the bold decision to cut off his locks: “I has my first operation because of cancer over 20 years ago but it turns out it we benign.
“Then, in 2012, I was diagnosed with rectal cancer and they had to operate on that and then they had to remove a quarter of my liver in June 2016 as I had cancer there too.
“I’m one of the lucky ones, I’ve been treated and now I’m cancer-free although I do have to go for regular check ups.
“I decided to shave my head because although I never lost all my hair, I’ve had to undergo months of chemo and radiotherapy and know how horrible it can be.
“The nurses at Macmillan Marie Curie do wonderful work and this is my way of thanking them.”
Malci also wished to thank The Mitre for hosting the event.
