A BARMOUTH man is undertaking another gruelling charity run just a few months after a life-saving operation on his brain.

Steffan Owen, 36, of Barmouth, suffers from a brain tumour, which he has been told will eventually kill him — experts believe he has between seven and 15 years to live.

As part of his ongoing battle, father-of-three Steffan routinely has to have corrective brain surgery to attempt to control the tumour. He went through his last harrowing procedure in the middle of July.

However, despite his medical ordeal, Steffan is still determined to live his life to the fullest and to help raise money for the Walton Centre, which has treated him over recent years.

Last year, Steffan ran in Ras y Gader for the first time after developing a passion for fell-running following his diagnosis.

In his latest bid to raise funds, Steffan is running the Conwy half-marathon next month, only weeks after being bed-ridden by the invasive procedure.

“It’s been a long summer of recovering and trying to get back to normality,” he told the Cambrian News.

“I had a week’s holiday in Tenerife with my fiancée and started training for the half-marathon by doing some short runs every few days."
