A 10-YEAR-OLD Llanidloes boy who underwent two operations to remove brain tumours has personally thanked the Wales football team after they helped him raise £2,630 for a children’s hospital.
Llanidloes Primary School pupil Kieran Hamer had brain surgery at the tender age of five to remove a tumour on his pituitary gland, and again last August after a scan revealed the tumour had returned.
And Kieran, who was treated on both occasions at the Children’s Hospital for Wales, Cardiff, paid a recent visit to train with the Wales football team and thank them for helping him raise money for the Noah’s Ark charity, which raises money exclusively for the hospital.
“Five years ago, Kieran had an operation to remove a brain tumour from the pituitary gland,” Paul Hamer, Kieran’s father told the Cambrian News this week.
“Last August he had a second operation after a scan revealed that it had returned and consultants decided to remove it.
“It was a shock, but it was all dealt with — the hospital are absolutely brilliant.
“He’s fine now — he has just had his 12-month scan and we are waiting for the results of that, but his six-month scan came back all clear.”
And after hearing of Kieran’s bravery, the Welsh Football Association decided to treat Kieran to a day of training with the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey, and also presented him with a signed Welsh football shirt.
