A PAIR of Aberystwyth University graduates have spoken of their experiences making a film in some of the poorest parts of Brazil.

Caroline Lumiere-Koziol, 21, and Juliet Valentine, 22, both from Poland, met at Aberystwyth University where they recently completed film and TV degrees. They have created a programme called Dream Catcher TV, which aims to “motivate and challenge people” to achieve their dreams.

After hitchhiking across the USA, the Sahara Desert, and the UK, the duo decided to spend their first summer after finishing university filming for Dream Catcher on the Road, a documentary focused on telling the story of people living in abject poverty in Brazil.

From showing the simplicity of the lives of people living in favelas, to revealing the grim reality of child soldiers, drug smuggling and police corruption, Caroline and Juliet put themselves at great risk to spread the message of hope.

“We wanted to create something unique in a documentary, something that will not only allow people to get the knowledge and create awareness of what is happening, but also encourage people to make some changes,” Caroline told the Cambrian News this week.

“That is why I decided to take a step forward and do a speech at the favelas."
