Madam,
Brexit fatigue is talked of as if getting Brexit done will enable this country to move forward.
I am afraid that it will not. Brexit will just be the beginning. We will have to negotiate our long-term relationship with the European Union.
If we have inflicted a no deal Brexit on our friends and neighbours, there will be little good will. Scotland will have another independence referendum and on this occasion is very likely to succeed. Anyone would think that Northern Ireland voted for Brexit but in fact the majority voted remain. It is more than likely that they too will decide to unite with Eire and thereby remain in the EU.
Years and years of rancour on all manner of things will ensue if we proceed with Brexit, all against the backdrop of our country declining economically and its influence in the world dissipated.
It is time that the advocates of Brexit acknowledge that the sunny uplands of Brexit they promised the British people is unattainable. Say sorry, and revoke Article 50. Please all write to your MP and let your views be known.
We are all sick of Brexit.
Yours etc, Helen Burland, Bwlchllan, Lampeter.
