I applaud the offer made by the retired veterinarian to help with the vaccination programme.

As a non-veterinarian ex-colleague of his I admire his sentiments.However, if his offer is accepted, and while current procedure does not require vaccinators to check temperatures, if this becomes so I would hope that he is retrained in the technique.

Having observed the painful look on my cat’s face when her temperature is taken by animal health specialists, I hope that the NHS will consider my suggestion.
