A fast food restaurant is set to open in Ceredigion later this year.

Burger King will open at Morrisons petrol station in Llanbadarn Fawr in Aberystwyth and work to develop the site is underway.

An exact date has not been given for the opening of the new restaurant, but a spokesperson for the company said it will be open before Christmas.

"Burger King® UK can confirm that Aberystwyth will become a new home to the Whopper®, opening its doors in November 2026. Stay tuned for more details around the opening date,” the spokesperson said.

Aberystwyth used to have a Burger King restaurant on Terrace Road, where KFC is now situated.

There are currently no other Burger King branches in Ceredigion.

The retail area will also benefit from a new drive-through Costa Coffee shop at Parc y Llyn Retail Park after planning permission was granted before Christmas despite traffic and road safety fears.

Costa Coffee submitted plans to build a new store in the corner of the existing car park near the B&M and Currys in June last year, with Ceredigion County Council planning officers giving the scheme the green light in December.

To accommodate the plan, 53 parking bays will be removed, and a total of 22 new parking bays will be created.

These new bays will include 19 standard parking bays, two accessible bays, and one order-waiting bay.

The car park’s current confusing configuration, which sees vehicles drive around the car park before exiting, will be changed as a result of the development.

The application says the new drive-through store will be open seven days a week between 5am and 11pm, creating 15 jobs.

It is not known how many new jobs the Burger King restaurant will create, and the opening hours have not been confirmed.
