NFU Mutual have donated almost £8,000 to hospice at home charity, HAHAV Ceredigion.

NFU Mutual Agents and their staff at the Aberystwyth office of the Ceredigion and Llandovery agency nominated HAHAV Ceredigion, which has an activity centre, shop and warehouse in Aberystwyth and volunteers who work throughout the county to deliver vital services, to receive a donation of £7,899 from NFU Mutual’s national £2.33million ‘Agency Giving Fund’.

The rural insurer launched this fund, now in its sixth year, to help local frontline charities who need it most across the country, and it forms part of NFU Mutual’s £4m funding pledge for both local and national charities in 2026.

To help ensure these donations reach all corners of the UK and are directed where they’re needed most, all NFU Mutual agencies, which includes more than 280 agency offices nationwide, have the opportunity to nominate local charities to receive a share of the fund.

This donation has enabled HAHAV Ceredigion to develop its work with those living with dementia and their carers. The charity runs a weekly support group, ‘Caffi Cofion’, an afternoon tea club with activities, excursions and guest speakers.

Since it started seven years ago, the Caffi has supported over 4,000 people living in Ceredigion and forms part of HAHAV Ceredigion’s Living Well programme. The money will also support the singing group which meets at HAHAV Ceredigion’s Living Well centre.

HAHAV Ceredigion Chair, Gwerfyl Pierce Jones, said: “We’re so grateful to the Ceredigion and Llandovery Agency of NFU Mutual for nominating our charity to receive a donation from the NFU Mutual Agency Giving Fund. The money will go a long way to helping us develop our Caffi Cofion, a service which has proved invaluable to those living with dementia, clients and carers.

“The Caffi runs lots of different activities from games and quizzes to art and crafts, tabletop gardening and music therapy. These activities help with memory stimulation, engagement skills and relaxation.

“As with the majority of our activities these are very much volunteer led but there are ongoing costs for activities, refreshments and minibus hire. This significant show of support from NFU Mutual will ensure the important work can continue and Ceredigion residents will reap the benefits.”

Rhys Davies, Agent at NFU Mutual Ceredigion and Llandovery Agency, added: “We’re extremely proud to have nominated HAHAV Ceredigion for this donation and are delighted to be able to support the vital contribution they make to our community. The purpose of NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund is to support local frontline charities who are providing essential services to people in our community, and our agency felt that HAHAV Ceredigion was a very deserving cause to champion.”
