Madam,
I would like to invite Dr John McTighe to join Bus Users in Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire Unite ( Bus campaigner will give up due to lack of support).
BUCCU is a Facebook group. Members inform each other when there are problems with a service and provide other updates. When a member has a question, another member usually has the answer.
It is very easy to join. You’ll be made most welcome.
Besides informing each other, some members also write letters to those in a position of power in order to campaign for an improvement in services and facilities. A few members have been active for some years to get rid of the abominable Bwcabus and bring Cribyn back to the land of the living.
It’s a hard slog and many times our words fall on deaf ears. By and large, bus users are regarded by politicians and bureaucrats alike as second-class citizens who should be grateful for the ‘services’ they get, rather than people with important jobs who happen to travel on the bus.
So, Dr McTighe, please join us and help us strengthen our voice. It is desperately needed. It’s not only your services that don’t connect; we can offer you many more examples.
There is also the issue of different companies not accepting each other’s tickets. We have seen passengers left stranded in the cold and dark due to drivers refusing to take them because of the ‘wrong’ ticket. What an uncivilised situation!
And just look at the state of bus shelters in Ceredigion, where there are any. They are an absolute disgrace!
Those in power are unwilling to take responsibility for any of the problems we experience. We call it the blame game but for those of us reliant on the bus it’s not a game at all.
Yours etc,
Elly Foster, Temple Bar, Lampeter.
