THE manager of an Indian restaurant in Criccieth says he fears for the business - after one of his workers was arrested by immigration officers.
A Bangladeshi man was arrested by a Home Office enforcement team after he was suspected of working illegally at Spice Bank on the High Street.
The 48-year-old was suspected of over staying his visa.
The man is currently in detention pending possible removal from the UK.
This is the second time in two years the restaurant has been raided by the immigration enforcement team.
In August 2015 a 30-year-old Bangladeshi man was arrested for allegedly working illegally.
Now the business has been served a notice warning and the owner could face a financial penalty of up to £20,000 unless the employer can demonstrate that appropriate right-to-work document checks were carried out.
Manager of Spice Bank, Mr Mia, said he was deeply concerned that one of his employees could have been working illegally.
He said: “The member of staff who was arrested had worked for us for two weeks.
“He came to me with what I thought, at the time, were documents which showed he had the right to work in the UK."
