A luxury bridalwear designer from Lampeter has been recognised at an event regarded as the BAFTAs of bridal fashion.
Victoria Sanders received the Best Emerging Bridal Fashion Brand award at the inaugural Bridelux Awards at London’s Savoy Hotel.
It was a memorable night for the 31-year-old, who took the plunge by setting up her own eponymous couture label ‘Victoria Sanders’ in London’s West End after working as head of design for London-based high-end fashion label Matthew Williamson for a number of years.
“It’s really cool to win because these awards are very big in the bridal industry,” the former Lampeter school pupil told the Cambrian News. “I didn’t even think I’d get shortlisted, let alone win!”
More than 230 leading wedding industry professionals from across Europe and the United States attended the awards after over 50 names were hand selected for 11 different categories encompassing the entirety of the luxury wedding industry.
Victoria’s mum, Angela, and brother Jason still live in Lampeter.
“I don’t get back home as often as I should but Mum comes up to London from time to time to help me with our dresses,” she added.
