A LAMPETER man has scooped a top industry award for his involvement with the town’s new school.

The Institute of Clerks of Works and Construction Inspectorate (ICWCI) held its 14th ‘Building on Quality Awards’ Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation at the Hendon Hall Hotel, Hendon, London, on Saturday, 13 May, where Dylan Jones MICWCI, from Lampeter, was ‘Highly Commended’ for his involvement with the Welsh-medium 3-19 All Through School.

With 25 nominations from the UK and Ireland, a team of senior members of the ICWCI visited and judged all projects, including Dylan’s.

Chairman of the judging panel, Meredith Whilden FICWCI, said: “The quality this season has been staggering; far higher than ever before.

“Our individual markings were astonishingly close, with just a few points difference between all of the shortlisted candidates who are here with us this evening.

“Dylan formed a very good working relationship with all involved.

“The judges were impressed with the way this candidate took the project to heart.

“He developed a strong feeling for the building and was determined to get it right.

“The end result is of the absolute finest quality and has become a great asset to the areas around it."
