CHRISTMAS shoppers will be able to park for free in council car parks in the run-up to the festive period.

Ceredigion County Council has confirmed that charges at its pay and display car parks will be waived for the three Saturdays before Christmas, 4, 11 and 18 December.

Cllr Dafydd Edwards, Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services, Housing and Customer Contact said: “As Ceredigion businesses are busy gearing up for Christmas, they’re are having to do so whilst competing against the lure of big online multinational companies.

“We want to do what we can to support Ceredigion businesses and hope that free parking on a Saturday in the lead up to Christmas will persuade more of us to shop locally.

“Enjoy what fantastic Ceredigion businesses have to offer.”

The council-run pay and display car parks are:

Aberaeron: Regent Street, North Beach, South Beach

Aberystwyth: Lower Park Avenue, Maesyrafon, North Road, New Promenade, Park Avenue

Cardigan: Bath House, Fairfield, Greenfield Square, Gloster Row, Mwldan, Quay Street

Lampeter: Cwmins, Rookery, Market Street

Llandysul: Porth Terrace

New Quay: Rock Street, Church Road

Tregaron: Talbot Yard
