OVER 250 jobs are to be created in holiday parks in North and West Wales.
Haven, which runs a number of sites across Wales, has confirmed that 173 jobs will be created at its Hafan y Môr site in Pwllheli, 66 at Greenacres in Porthmadog and 23 opportunities at Quay West in New Quay.
The jobs will involve working across various areas of the parks including leisure, cleaning and security.
There are part-time and full-time positions available, they said.
This comes as Haven prepares to reopen sites across Wales for the 2021 season after the Welsh Government announced last week that self-contained accommodation can reopen from 27 March.
Julie Scoltock, senior resourcing partner with Haven, said: “Haven is a key employer throughout the UK and we’re extremely proud to be able to offer jobs to hundreds of people in Wales during what’s been a particularly difficult time for job seekers.
“The roles available are across a number of areas of park from our leisure and catering teams to cleaning and security.
“This year is set to be a really big year for UK holidays with thousands of holidaymakers looking to escape to the great British coast for a well-deserved break.”
She added: “The roles are a great opportunity and we look forward to welcoming our new team soon.”
Councillors in New Quay, Pwllheli and Porthmadog have welcomed the news.
New Quay mayor Dan Potter welcomed the news, saying it would be a “boost” for the town.
“It’s fantastic news that they are providing jobs for local people,” he told the Cambrian News.
Porthmadog county councillor Nia Jeffreys also welcomed the news, saying: “We have been hard hit by the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting economic downturn.
“I know many people who have lost work in the last year so these job opportunities are good news.”
Cllr Eric Wyn Roberts is the mayor of Pwllheli, also welcomed the news for the area.
He said: “I warmly welcome the great news that Haven Holidays has created 173 new jobs when they reopen this year.
“This will give many people and families hope for a better future after such a difficult time.”
He added: “It also safeguards the continued benefits associated with having Haven Holidays in the area, especially in Pwllheli.
“We look forward to safely welcoming back all visitors when restrictions are lifted.”
The group, which operates Haven, Bourne Leisure, was acquired by American company Blackstone last month.
