A VITAL community service has found a permanent home in Dolgellau.

The town’s new Local Information Centre (LIC), set up a couple of months ago after the town’s official Snowdonia National Park Tourist Centre was closed due to budgetary constraints, is now located in the Dolgellau Rotary Club’s bookshop, adjacent to the magistrates’ court.

The LIC is the product of a collaboration between the Dolgellau Partnership and local volunteers who want to offer advice and services to visitors and locals alike after the town was “devastated” by the closure of the former Tourist Information Centre.

Town councillor Jo Checkley, a driving force in the new initiative, this week thanked all those who had worked hard to set up and house the LIC.
