A CARDIGAN businessman claims the lack of super-fast broadband on an industrial park on the outskirts of town is driving away potential investors.
Glyn Hyett, who says the situation at Parc Teifi is “a sorry state of affairs” is now urging the Welsh Government to take action while also questioning the lack of highways signage directing visitors to the park.
“Frankly, the fact you have to sit back and wait for a picture to be sent almost reduces me to tears,” Mr Hyett, managing director of 3PTechnik UK Ltd, online retailers for natural paints and building products, told the Cambrian News.
“It’s like being back in the distant days of dial-up. Speed is everything in today’s
business world. You have to be professional, have a zippy-zappy website and instant responses.
“While we’re struggling to get e-mails out the door, people in places like London must think they’re dealing with a bunch of hippies sitting in a tepee.”
In a strongly-worded e-mail to the Welsh Government’s estates department, Mr Hyett argues that super-fast broadband is “as fundamental as gas and electricity supplies”.
