A DANCE and lounge bar in Pwllheli is up for a top design award only three months after opening its doors to the public.

Venu Pwllheli is one of the finalists in this year’s Northern Design Awards and could scoop the award for the Best Commercial Design Project.

Earlier this year VENU Pwllheli was granted planning permission by Gwynedd Council planners to transform the former LS Carpets retail unit into an expansive venue for eating, drinking and dancing.

VENU (pictured), which only opened in August, which is owned and run by Victoria Morris of Borth-y-Gest.

Victoria said: “When I originally took over the building back in 2014, the ultimate challenge was to transform an empty ex-carpet warehouse with no redeeming features into a cool, funky and upmarket venue and to make a large 5,000 square foot shell of warehouse area, appear intimate yet atmospheric."
