CEREDIGION MP Ben Lake took time out from Parliament to learn more about the thriving holiday parks industry in his constituency.

Mr Lake was the guest of Morfa Bychan Holiday Park in Llanfarian, near Aberystwyth, at the annual conference of the British Holiday & Home Parks Association in London.

Held at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster, just a short distance from Parliament, the event was attended by representatives from many of Britain’s 3,000-plus holiday parks.

The MP was welcomed at the event by Charles Lloyd Jones whose family business, Hillandale Caravan Parks, began over 60 years ago and owns Morfa Bychan.

Hillandale has grown to seven award-winning holiday parks located in tranquil locations.

Over the years, the family has invested much time and energy into creating high quality surroundings and installing excellent facilities for holiday guests.

Charles told Ben Lake MP that they were proud to be major players in the tourism economy of Ceredigion which generates more than £310m of visitor spending annually.

Almost all of this sum, he said, benefits local businesses and helps to sustain the large number of tourism-dependent job in the county, estimated at over 5,500.

“We were delighted that Mr Lake was able to join us at the conference, and to learn more about our sector and how it helps draw many visitors to Mid Wales each year,” said Charles.

“Mr Lake clearly recognises the importance of tourism to Ceredigion, and is aware of the many challenges as well as opportunities faced by businesses such as ours."
